CLUB RULE No.  3      

 

Entrance Fees.

1. (a) Members shall pay the applicable entrance fee at once together with the subscription laid down in Appendix “A”. If under 21 years of age no entrance fee is payable but see Clause 5 of this Rule. The Entrance Fee can be reduced/waived for Group Membership as agreed by the Committee of Management.

(b) Sons and daughters under twenty five (25) years of age of current Members who take up Membership will be exempt from paying the initial Entrance Fee as laid down in Appendix “A”.

2. No newly elected Member shall attend the Club, except as a guest, until he has paid his first half-year subscription and his entrance fee.

3. No refund of entrance fee shall be made in any circumstance.



Subscriptions.

4. (a) Subscriptions, which will be payable annually or half-yearly in advance, shall be as shown in Appendix “A” until altered as provided by Clause 8 of this Rule.

(b) Subscriptions are to reach the Secretary’s office by not later than 31st January and 31st July for those paying half-yearly subscriptions and 15th February for those paying annually.

(c) Should any subscription including any other dues remain unsettled at the end of the half-year to which it refers or any of the accounts mentioned in these Rules remain unsettled beyond the times allowed for settlement, the name of the Member concerned shall be reported to the Committee of Management which may post his name on the Club notice board as a defaulter and also, should they think fit, suspend him from the Club or remove him from the list of Members (or apply such other penalties as detailed in Rule XVIII) until such time as the account is settled.

5. Members between the ages of 18 and 21 years who are not in full employment or are still bona fide students or student-workers up to the age of 25 years will pay a reduced subscription 50% of the Members fee quoted in Appendix “A”.

6. Temporary Members for whom provision is made under Rule IV shall pay subscriptions as shown in Appendix “A”.

7. Any Member ceasing to belong to the Club, by resignation or otherwise, shall have no claim to have any part of his subscription or entrance fee returned to him. Should he wish to rejoin he must be re-proposed, seconded and elected. No entrance fee is payable, ‘provided:

a) the application for re-election is made within twelve months from the date membership ceased.

b) all arrears have been duly settled.

8. The amount of entrance fee and subscriptions for all Members may be altered, as the Club may determine, at the Annual General Meeting or at an Extraordinary General Meeting. The Committee of Management has the right to increase subscriptions by not more than 5 per cent (5%) annually without convening a General Meeting.

9. (a) Members leaving Malta for 12 months or more are to signify their intention in writing to the Secretary who will enter their names in the Overseas Members’ Register. Normal subscriptions will not be charged during their absence.

(b) Members on the Overseas Members’ Register shall pay a reduced subscription as shown in Appendix “A”.

(c) In the case of Members on the Overseas Members’ Register visiting Malta, they shall pay pro rata of the normal Membership Fee for the period in which they are in Malta.


10. Members intending to resign Membership of the Club shall signify their intention in writing to the Secretary by registered mail. Members failing to comply with this Rule are liable to pay any subsequent dues.


11. (a) Facilities exist for Life Membership, which includes spouse. The fee payable is as laid down in Appendix “A”.

(b) Life Membership will be limited to eighty (80) Members who have reached the age of fifty (50) years by the 1st January. The Committee of Management is empowered to change the limits of Membership and age group in this category provided that the change/s are beneficial to the Club.

12. Honorary Life Membership
The Committee of Management may, at its discretion invite individuals including Club Members to become Honorary LIFE Members. The number of Honorary Life Members will not exceed ten (10) Members at any one time. A list of Honorary Life Members is to be kept by the Secretary who is to annually bring to the notice of Club Members (by a notice on the Club notice board) of those individuals granted Honorary Life Membership. Any such invitation must have the unanimous approval of all the Members of the Committee of Management.
