Membership.
1. (a) Gentlemen and Ladies desirous of joining the Club must be
proposed on the appropriate form by a Full Member and seconded by
another
Full Member, except that sons and daughters of Full Members require only
a proposer. A Member may not propose a candidate unless he has been a
Full Member for over one (1) year. Members of the Committee of
Management may neither propose nor second any
Candidate as a Member, however the Committee may sanction Group
Membership.
(b) The Committee of Management at its discretion may invite and accept
Group Membership provided that Groups are made up of ten (10)
Applications and over.
2. The name of the proposed candidate, together with the names of the
proposer and seconder, shall be posted on the notice board for at least
seven clear days immediately prior to the election, except where the
Committee of Management is in no doubt as to a candidate’s
unsuitability.
3. A book shall be kept in the Secretary’s office for the registration
of the names of the candidates with their proposer and seconders.
4. (a) The acceptance of members into the club shall be decided by the
Committee of Management.
(b) If a candidate or in the case of a Married Couple, one of the
spouses is unable to attend the introductory meeting with the Committee
of Management, due to valid reasons, the applicant or applicants will
have their acceptance to Membership deferred, should the candidate/s
still not be able to keep the second appointment, the candidature will
be considered and may be accepted provided that the proposed candidate/s
is known to at least 50% + 1 of the Members of the Committee of
Management. However these are to meet the Committee at the first
opportunity.
5. Any candidate who fails to take up his membership by payment, within
one month from the day of election, of his entrance fee and subscription
shall have his name removed from the List of Elected Members and must,
if he wishes to join the Club, be proposed and seconded again.
6. In the event of a candidate being excluded at an election he may not
re-apply for election until after the expiration of three years. He may
not be admitted to the Club as a guest.
7. A Member who has been requested to resign his membership or who has
been expelled shall not be admitted to the precincts of the Club
(Rule III Para 7 refers).
8. No application from a prospective candidate will be accepted unless
his spouse also joins; they must after election together continue as
Members. The Committee of Management may, however, at their discretion
grant exceptions. (See Rule XVII Para 2)
9. The wife/husband of a single Member, who marries, automatically
becomes a Member. They will be required to adjust their existing
payments of Entrance Fee and Subscription to meet the current rates of a
married couple.
10. A separated/divorced gentleman or lady applying for membership must
provide the necessary legal documents as proof of their status when
applying for membership. Similarly, married couples who separate or
divorce after being admitted as members are to present legal proof to
the Committee of Management if they so wish to stay as single members of
the Club.
Exceptionally, the Committee of Management may, at its discretion,
exempt certain cases from the strict application of this rule.
